President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of Prime Minister, has approved granting of special remission in sentences on the occasion of Pakistan Day on March 23, 2012. Special remission of 90 days has been granted to prisoners convicted for life imprisonment except those convicted for heinous crimes including murder, espionage and anti-state activities. Special remission for 45 days granted to all other convicts except the condemned prisoners and those convicted for heinous crimes.
