Business community and MQM observe Black Day

After the protest of MQM in National Assembly over extortion in Karachi, a Black Day is being observed today, in several cities of Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad.

The Black Day is being observed against extortion mafia by the Business Community of Karachi supported by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). AajNews Reported.

All businesses including utilities, clinics, gas stations and schools remained closed except for private universities. Public transport was also ceased in support of the strike.

Saturday morning gave images of a Sunday morning, as traffic was hard to find on the roads through out the city.

In reports of violence, aerial firing was being reported from various areas of the city throughout last night while three vehicle burning incidents occurred early in the morning.

The MQM leader Altaf Hussain, has requested people of Karachi and other cities to observe a peaceful strike and avoid violence. Giving a warning, he said, that any party worker found involved in any violent activity would be disqualified from the party permanently.

He appealed his party worker to maintain peace and observe the Black Day peacefully.

In other news of Karachi

A mild deployment of police and rangers was also found in sensitive areas of the city.

A total of 25 suspects were apprehended by Police from all five districts of Karachi recovering heavy amount of arms and ammunitions from their possession.

The suspects were arrested on the basis of heinous crimes such as robbery, extortion, street crimes and others. 14 pistols, a dagger and eleven mobile phones were among the recoveries. Police stations of all five districts have registered the cases and initiated probe.

Meanwhile, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station arrested two street criminals red-handed who used to operate near Sadequain School of Arts and recovered five mobile phones and a motorcycle bearing registration number KDT-0846 from their possession.

During the investigation, accused Ashraf S/O Abdullah and Habib S/O Shabbir confessed that they used to snatch mobile phones and other valuables from students in Mubina Town police limits and Rashid Minhas Road.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police have registered the case under section 162/12 of Pakistan Penal Code and initiated probe. PPI
