Speaking to the media, the IG police Sindh Mushtaq Shah, said that street crime is not as high as the media is portraying it to be.

He said that the media exaggerates the crime reports which in turn creates panic and havoc in ordinary citizen's minds.

Quoting the CPLC crime statistics, he said there is no significant change in criminal activity compared to the old data. Mushtaq said that CPLC records are most reliable and they are witness to the fact that the crime rate has not reached cautionary levels, yet.

The Inspector General, while blaming the media, said that media is projecting street crime as a hazardous issue which it is not.
