Railway fares increased, implementation from today

Following the footsteps of Pakistan Railways, the private sector Business Express train between Lahore and Karachi management has also increased fare by 14-20 percent or Rs 500 per one-way which will be implemented from today (Thursday) violating their agreement with the government.

It is pertinent to mention here that under the agreement, the Business Express management was not allowed to increase its fare during the first year of its operation.

Sources told that the administration has directed all commercial assistants, station superintendents, stationmasters and station managers to prominently display the revised fares immediately. A notification, in this regard, has also been issued.
The sources said that the higher railway authorities had asked an increase of 25 percent, however, the government allowed 15-20 percent hike.

The new fares for the Business Class would be Rs 5500 and Rs 4000 for Budget Class, while there will be no change in the present Rs 1800 fare of the economy class.

While the Shalimar Express administration has also increased the fares and abolished the introductory fares.

To another query Wi-Fi internet and LCD services were operating smoothly inside the coaches and there were no complaints in this regard.
