Punjab Chief Minister Shabaz Sharif, has been elected unopposed as the president of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Punjab chapter on Monday.

In a meeting of the party's provincial councils in Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif was named the president of the Punjab sect of the PML-N.

According to the party constitution, party officials are elected for a five-year term. The last elections were conducted in 2004 which were followed by Punjab chapter election at least two years ago.

For the past two years, PML-N has conducted various election of office holders for the party.
