Dav Whatmore arrives in Pakistan
The newly appointed coach of Pakistan, Dav Whatmore arrived in Lahore on Friday.
According to the sources, Whatmore has appointed as Pakistan's new coach in March.
It has long been thought that, despite Pakistan's impressive form under interim boss Mohsin Khan – they recently inflicted a Test series whitewash on England – the former Bangladesh coach had been chosen by the committee.
Dav Whatmore was due to arrive in early March to sign his contract, and everything was set for him to take over with his first assignment being the Asia Cup in Bangladesh.
The team under Misbah's astute leadership have gelled and continued to show great signs of improvement over the last year or so.
Whatmore, 57, coached the Sri Lanka side who won the 1996 World Cup. He coached Bangladesh from 2003 to 2007, leading them to their first test victory in early 2005 against Zimbabwe and also guided them into the super eight stage of the 2007 World Cup where they defeated India and South Africa.
“He will be the coach from the Asia Cup. The Board has also decided to hire English professional coach, Julien Fountain as the fielding coach of the national team,†the source added.
