Stage set for Senate elections
As many as 98 candidates will be contesting election on 47 Senate seats today as Election Commission of Pakistan has finalized all arrangements to hold elections at four provincial assemblies and National Assembly.
As the ECP has declared on Thursday nine candidates as returned uncontested, polling will be held on 47 seats.
Polling for Senate seats from provinces will be held at provincial assemblies while for FATA in the Parliament House where FATA MNAs will vote to elect Senators for Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
The ECP has finalized the arrangements to conduct elections and has directed Returning Officers not to allow members to carry with them cell phones or any other device to take pictures and take immediate action against the violators. The polling will continue uninterrupted from 0900 hours to 1600 hours. The counting will be made thereon and results will be announced by the Returning Officers.
