Federal Cabinet approves 20th amendment; supports PM Gilani
A special cabinet meeting was underway with PM Gilani in chair to give its approval to the draft 20th Amendment agreed between the government and the opposition, which has now been approved by the Cabinet.
The Federal Cabinet, in their meeting today came out backing PM Yusuf Raza Gilani regarding his trial for contempt of court. If proven guilty he can lose his job and become ineligible for the Job of PM for life.
"The cabinet unanimously applauded the conduct of the prime minister in the Supreme Court and reposed full confidence in his leadership," his office said in a statement.
PM Gilani was thankful to the cabinet and added his premiership is "due to the support of members of parliament, his cabinet colleagues and of the coalition partners".
PM faces charges for contempt of court. The charges were pressed against him on Monday reason being, him refusing to open corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
