NA body approves 20th amendment bill 2012

The Standing Committeeon Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Mondayapproved 20th Amendment Bill 2012 in order to give thelegal coverage to the by-elections in the wake of18th Amendment.

The committee met under the chairpersonship of Begum Nasim Akhter Chaudhry, MNA. The committee alsoconsidered the Legal Practitioner and Bar Council(Amendment) Bill, 2008 and recommended to withdraw iton the advice of Attorney General of Pakistan and Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs forthe purpose to restore the original legal Practitionerand Bar councils Act, 1973.

The Committee also considered the variousamendments proposed by the Election Commission ofPakistan in respect of the Electoral Rolls Act, 1974,the Senate (Election) Act, 1975, the representation ofPeople Act, 1975 and the political parties order 2002,in order to hold free and Fair Elections in thecountry.

MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar, Abdul Ghafoor chaudhry,Muhammad Ijaz Virk Advocate, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Riaz Fatyana, S.A Iqbal Qadri and Sardar Muhammad Yuqub Khan Nasar attended the meeting.
