SC declares petitions on memogate maintainable
The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Friday declared petitions on memogate maintainable and ruled that a four-member commission would decide the issue.
The nine-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry of the apex court gave ruling on the initial hearing of the memogate.
The SC gave timeframe of four-week to the probe commission that would be consist of three High Court Chief justices of Balochistan, Sindh and Islamabad and a session judge. Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Qazi Faiz Esa will head the commission.
During today’s proceedings, PML-N lawyer Rasheed A Rizvi gave his arguments. Senator Ishaq Dar, member of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS), presented his arguments in favour of acceptance of the petitions before the nine-member bench.
