A police constable was killed and eight others including, Three policemen were wounded when a small bomb exploded outside a girls’ school in the northwestern town of Mardan, local police officials said.

According to the sources, the remote-controlled bomb was planted at the outer wall of the government-run middle school in the outskirts of Mardan town.

The bomb exploded after police arrived to investigate complaints about a suspicious plastic bag outside the school, which was closed at the time.

The dead policeman was identified as Allah Nawaz, While injured policemen includes Atif, Jawad, Ali Bahadur. The gate keeper of the school was also injured in the blast.

Security forces reached the spot defused another bomb planted in an oil container.

Police sources said, The injured were shifted to District Headquarter hospital and further investigations were underway.
