Taylor Lautner found it tough to portray Jacob Black as 'the middle man' in the new Twilight movie.

The actor plays werewolf Jacob in the penultimate film of the series, Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

The highly-anticipated movie follows human Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen as they tie the knot and she becomes pregnant.

Jacob must choose between his love of Bella and his loyalty to his wolf pack.

'It was really exciting for me, because Jacob in this movie is very different than he ever has been, so I was a little nervous. I was excited,' he said in an interview with MTV. 'But Jacob was a challenge in this movie, being pulled in two totally different directions and kind of being the middle man. He has to make a decision: which side are you going to choose?'

Taylor was excited to see the three central characters, played by himself Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, grow up.

The 19-year-old can identify with Jacob’s position in between childhood and manhood.

'It's really amazing to see all of the characters, really, in a different light than you've ever seen them before,' he explained. 'I have my kid-fun moments, I guess, but I would say it's a good mixture. I don't think you've ever found exactly who you are. I'm always continuing to grow and learn more about myself each and every day, so I can definitely relate to that.'
