SHC accepts bail plea of Afaq Ahmed
Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered to release Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) Chairman Afaq Ahmed on bail in Atiq-ur-Rehman murder case Monday. The bail has been approved against one million rupees.
It was the last case against the MQM-H chief.
During today’s proceedings, the court heard the arguments of Ahmed’s counsel on a plea seeking bail and murder charges.
The SHC in its verdict stated that no proofs have been found against Afaq Ahmed in the Atiq-ur-Rehman’s murder case. The court also ordered the respective court hearing the case to conclude the acquittal plea of the applicant within three months.
The MQM-H chief was booked in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist Atiq-ur-Rehman by the Nabi Bux police in June 2009, and the trial court had rejected the acquittal plea of the applicant.
The court accepted the bail orders and instructed for his release against one million rupees.
In 1992, Afaq Ahmed and Amir khan was granted life imprisonment but Sindh high court rejected the verdict and granted them bail.
