ATC orders to release 34 accused in Anjum escape case

An anti-terrorist court on Wednesday ordered to release 34 accused in Anjum Aqeel Khan Escape case, who had been charged with escaping from police custody.

The PML-N, MNA and 33 others accused were produced before Rawalpindi's special ATC-1. Police said in its discharge report presented to court during the proceedings that no clues of the detainees in Anjum's escape from police custody have been found and nothing was recovered from their possession as well, therefore should be set free.

Meantime, the court directed police to present challan to the court on the next hearing.

Earlier, the National Assembly member had escaped from custody outside the Shalimar police station with the help of supporters.

Later, the court adjourned the case’s hearing to August 30.
