Roadside blast kills two Afghan civilians

A roadside bomb blast killed two civilians in Afghanistan’s south, the Afghan government said.

Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi said the civilians were driving on a road in the Gereshk district early Monday when the blast hit their car.

Ahmadi said four others in the vehicle were wounded.

Insurgents routinely plant bombs on roads throughout the south in an effort to hit government or Nato vehicles, but civilians often end up the victims of the blasts.
