8 more killed, 150 motorbikes torched in Karachi

At least 8 more people died and 150 motorbikes were torched in different strife-hit localities of the city on Tuesday, despite the government launching a campaign for peace.

Unknown arsonists stormed a factory in the Ahsanabad Industrial Zone near Gulshan-e-Maymar area on Monday evening and torched at least 150 motorcycles parked outside the industrial unit.

The latest killings brought the death toll to 33 in two days, blamed on political, ethnic and criminal rivalries which have reportedly left more than 200 dead since the beginning of July.

Earlier in the day, four people got seriously injured in firing incident at Abul Hassan Asfahani road, among them two were died while taken to the hospital. Two dead bodies were recovered from Pak Colony.

On Monday eight people were killed in different firing incidents in North Nazimabad, Pak colony, Baldia, orange Town and Gulistan-e- Johar. Two dead bodies were recovered from Pak Colony.

Another passenger coach was also set on fire within the remit of the Mominabad police station, the police added.

A truck belonging to the Karachi Electric Supply Company and another belonging to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation were also torched in the Soldier Bazaar area. A private car was also set on fire within the remit of the Mobina Town police station.
