Concern expressed over Dr Fai’s arrest in USA
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) and other political leaders of occupied Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan have expressed serious concern over the arrest of the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre and Chairman of Kashmiri American Council, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai by the United States.
The Chairman of Parliamentary Kashmir Committee, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reacted severely and showed great annoyance against the arrest of Dr Fai by FBI. He described the arrest a great injustice, adding that Dr Fai had rendered great services for Kashmir cause. He said that he would gather information about Dr Fai’s arrest as Chairman of Kashmir Committee.
Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi and JKLF Acting Chairman, Bashir Ahmad Butt in their separate statements, describing the arrest as unjustified, said Dr Fai was highlighting the Kashmir dispute at international level in a democratic and peaceful manner. The leaders said that Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai and other Kashmiris had been playing a key role to raise the Kashmir dispute and the atrocities on Kashmiris at global level.
President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Zulqarnain Khan, showing his reaction on the arrest of Dr Fai, said that it was a great conspiracy against the struggle of Kashmiri people for securing right to self-determination and condemned the arrest of Dr Fai. He said that Dr Fai was working peacefully for the resolution of Kashmir dispute through dialogue. He demanded his immediate release.
Senior leader of PML-N, Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, while talking to media men, expressed serious concern overt the arrest of Dr Fai and said that Dr Fai was one of the leaders who wanted a peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute. He added Dr Fai is being respected among the Kashmiri people.
Amir of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Jamat-e-Islami, Abdul Rashid Turabi, expressing serious concern over Dr Fai’s arrest, said that he was working peacefully for Kashmir cause but the US, on Indian pressure, communicated a negative message to Kashmiri people.
