Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Friday declared the suspension orders of Zafar Qureshi as illegal.

During Today's proceedings, chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry directed Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq to produce the record of Zafar Quareshi’s suspension in the court.

While Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq informed the court that the government had not reappointed Mr Qureshi as the chief investigation officer in inquiry.

A three-member bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard a suo moto case regarding the violation of Public Procurement Rules 2004 in procurement of losses of billions of rupees to the public exchequer caused by the NICL scam.

Later, the court was adjourned till July 18.
