SA Session: 3 ordinances approved, reviving Sindh Police Act 1861

The Sindh Assembly witnesses noisy scenes from the opposition on Wednesday when it meets for the first time after parting of ways of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement from the Pakistan People’s Party-led coalition government.

The session of Sindh Assembly, was headed by Deputy Speaker Ms Shehla Raza.

During the session the speaker approved the, Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 1979, and Sindh Police Act, 1861, and the Sindh Land Revenue (amendment) Ordinance 2001 will be laid before the assembly under Article 128(2)(A) of the Constitution.

While the Sindh Repeal of Police Order 2002 and Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001 was disapproved in the assembly.

Meanwhile, Mutahida Qaumi Movement continued to protest. When Faisal Sabzwari, insisted on his demand and said that their resignations should be accepted and the assembly members of MQM should be granted opposition seats.

The acting speaker said as the resignations of MQM members are not yet accepted by the Sindh government, therefore, oppositions seats cannot be allotted to the MQM members.

Later, the Sindh assembly session was adjourned till July, 22.
