SC orders FIA to stop inquiry against Qureshi
The Supreme Court here today ordered the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to stop the departmental inquiry against the former FIA Additional Director Zafar Qureshi during the hearing of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case.
The court also ordered the attorney general to present the orders passed by the FIA Director General Malik Muhammad Iqbal for the transfer of four other FIA officials associated with the case.
Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry headed the bench and said that attempts were being made to influence the inquiry of the case.
The cheif justice said that there are two options, Either to dismiss the case or call for an inquiry.
The hearing of the case has been adjourned till July 13.
Earlier, These officers were allegedly transferred in a bid to separate them from the investigation process, at the same time when Qureshi was reinstated to his post.
