SC Hearing PFUJ Petition In Shahzad’s Case
The Supreme Court took up a petition moved by SCBA president Asma Jehangir on behalf of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists to investigate the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad here on Friday.
The three-page petition regarding the setting up of a high-powered judicial commission to investigate the killing was filed by Asma Jehangir after the commission announced by the government on Thursday.
The case may also settle a controversy involving appointment of the commission without consultation with the chief justice.
The three member bench including justice Tariq Pervaiz, justice Amir Hani is headed by chief justice Ifthikhar Muhammad Chuadary.
Earlier, The petition succumb after a 24-hour sit-in by journalists in front of the Parliament House.
