Earlier, The Punjab government says the provincial budget for 2011-12 will be relief-oriented, as the finance deficit will be met by taxing the rich, finding new opportunities of revenue generation and cutting the expenditure.

The Punjab government proposes to adjust property and motor vehicles taxes and broaden the scope of provincial sales tax on services in the budget for the fiscal 2011-12.
