Indo- Pak Round of talks on Siachen

A fresh round of talks between India and Pakistan on Siachen gets underway, and any progress on one of the least problematic issues may give a boost to the peace process between both the countries.

Defense secretaries from both countries are meeting in New Delhi on Monday for two-day talks on withdrawing their forces from the mountainous no-man's land above the Siachen glacier, where India broke Simla pact in 1984.

The dialogues between both the countries in 2004-2008 brought them closer since then the Peace talks resumed again this year, and this is the first meeting of the defense secretaries, in three years.

"If this is resolved then it will improve the environment and climate for resolving other issues between India and Pakistan." Analysts said.
