President’s address to the Parliament; Opposition stages walkout

President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that the government will take strict action against criminal elements in the country.

While addressing to the joint sitting of the parliament, President Zardari said that government have no fear of making difficult decisions. Adding that the government will fight with terrorists to the finish.

He said that the government had disbursed Rs. 74 bln to 4 bln poor families.

'Remittances have reached 11 bln dollars while export will reach Rs. 24 dollars, said Zardari.

President Zardari emphasised Pakistan`s desire for trade, not aid. 'We want long term relationship with the US', said the president.

During the session, opposition parties have boycotted and walked out from the parliamentary joint session in protest against government’s policies and its failure to maintain good governance.
