At least nine people were killed and around 30 wounded in a blast at mosque near a shrine in Nowshehra on Friday.

According to details, the blast occurred in a mosque near Akhund Panjo Baba Shrine in Akbarpura, area of Nowshehra. Nine people killed and several others injured in the blast.

The injured have been shifted to Peshawar and Pubbi Hospitals. Police have cordoned off the area immediately after the blast and arrested two people on suspicion.

A state of emergency has been declared in Nowshehra Hospital, police said. President Asif Zardari and Farooq H. Naik has strongly condemned the blast.
