10 Bangladesh policemen killed in road accident
An official says 10 policemen have been killed when their jeep collided head-on with a truck in eastern Bangladesh.
Local police official Bijoy Basak says the policemen were on their way Saturday to a meeting to discuss law and order in Narsingdi district, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) east of Dhaka.
He says one policeman in the group survived with minor injuries.
Fatal road accidents, often blamed on poor driving and faulty vehicles, claim more than 10,000 lives in Bangladesh every year.
