Police opened fire on a crowd demonstrating against load shedding in Bannu on Tuesday, killing one protester and wounding 13 others.

According to details, the violence flared after a rally of about 500 protesters refused to move from a busy road they had blocked for three hours.

The protester was killed when police opened fire on demonstrators. Police resorted to baton charge and teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.

A curfew has been imposed in the city.
