Hajj scam: SC directs to remove DG FIA from probe

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday directed the government to remove Director General Federal Investigation Agency (DG FIA) from Hajj corruption probe.

A 7-member bench of SC, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the case regarding corruption in Hajj operation.

During the hearing, DG FIA Waseem Ahmad requested the Apex Court to separate him from the investigation.

Chief Justice Ifitikhar Mohammad Chaudhry directed the government to act quickly on the Waseem's request. CJP summoned the report of removal of DG FIA within three days.

The statement of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, recorded by FIA on the directions of SC, was presented before the Apex Court.

Azam Swati showed dissatisfaction on FIA's investigation.

The Apex Court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 20.

On the previous hearing of Hajj scam, Director General FIA (DG FIA) Waseem Ahmad revealed that the names of Rao Shakeel and Ahmad Faiz was withdraw from the Exit Control List (ECL) at the behest of Rehman Malik.
