Magnitude-6.1 earthquake rumbles near Fiji
A strong magnitude-6.1 earthquake has struck in waters near Fiji on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey says, but there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
No tsunami warning was in effect after the undersea quake struck 115 miles (185 km) east-northeast of Lambasa, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre website.
The temblor struck at 4:01 a.m. local time at a depth of 9.4 miles (15.2 kilometres).Earthquakes are common to the region.
