Eid ul Azha being celebrated with religious fervour

As elsewhere, the Eid ul Azha is being celebrated by the faithfuls in the country with religious fervour.

The Eid namaz  were offered at Eidgahs, Imambargahs, parks, open places across the country.

The day has dawned with the prayers at religious places as Muslims thronged mosques and open grounds for Eid prayers, seeking Allah's blessings and peace of mankind, solidarity among Muslim Ummah and country's prosperity.

The biggest congregations of them all held at landmark prayer-facilities such as Faisal Mosque in Islamabad or Badshahi Mosque in Lahore where thousands of Muslims offered prayers.

In their eid sermons, ulema highlighted the significance and philosophy of the sacrifice and urged the faithful to follow teachings of Islam that call for greater unity of the Ummah.

Eidul Azha revives the memory of Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) faith in Allah Almighty and his complete readiness to sacrifice his dearest son as a token of surrendering himself to the divine command.

Almost immediately after Eid-ul-Azha prayers, Muslims all over the world  sacrifice animals to commemorate the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) in response to a command from Allah Almighty.

They slaughter animals by saying the name of Allah at the time of slaughtering and give charity to the poor and impoverished by making contributions and distributing meat for Allah.

The main Eid congregation in Karachi was held at the Old Polo Ground here where the Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishartul Ebad Khan, offered Eid prayers alongwith notables, members of the diplomatic corps from the Islamic countries.
