Karachi faces 12hrs of load shedding
Owning to shortage of gas supply to the Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation (KESC), citizens of provincial metropolis are facing electricity outages for upto 12 hours in a day.
The existing supply-demand gap of electricity has widened to 700MW following the sudden decrease in gas supply, as winter season started.
Unit 4 of Bin Qasim Power Plants has shut down due to shortage of gas. Meanwhile, the metropolitan has been divided into three categories in which KESC is conducting 8, 10 and 12 hours load shedding.
On the other hand, the areas which were previously declared no-load shedding zones are also faced with load shedding.
The every day life is badly suffering in some worst affected areas of Karachi, the economic hub of Pakistan.
The increased duration of load shedding would continue until restoration of gas supply from the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), KESC spokesperson said.
