SC orders probe into judges’ notification matter
The Supreme Court (SC) in its order on Friday, sought policy statement by the government on news items regarding government’s plan of revoking the notification of judges’ restoration, saying that the executive order of March 16, lost its effectiveness.
The apex court, terming the Attorney General’s reply unsatisfactory, warned that any attempt to sack the judges would sabotage the constitution of Pakistan and considered as violation of article 6 of the constitution.
The 17-member bench of SC, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the suo motto case on the news of government plan of revoking the notification.
The Supreme Court directed the government to probe into the matter submit the report on October 18.
Later, the hearing was adjourned till October 18, 2010.
