Russian PM set for talks in Seoul on NKorean nuke test

Russian PM set for talks in Seoul on NKorean nuke testVisiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov was to meet South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun on Tuesday to discuss their response to North Korea's nuclear test.
Roh and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, in a telephone call late on Monday, agreed to continue trying to ease tensions through dialogue following the October 9 test which shocked the world.
Russia backed United Nations sanctions imposed on Saturday but the measures were watered down following pressure from Moscow and Beijing.
Russia is also a member of the six-nation forum which had been trying to negotiate an end to the North's nuclear programme, along with the two Koreas, China, Japan and the United States.
Fradkov was also to meet Prime Minister Han Myeong-Sook later in the day for more talks on the nuclear issue, after the United States officially confirmed the test with a yield of less than one kiloton.
The two premiers will also observe the signing of five agreements, including accords on the protection of space technologies and on forest co-operation, and hold a joint news conference.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alexeyev visited Seoul earlier in the week and said North Korea had told him it was interested in reviving the stalled six-nation talks.
But he did not indicate when or how this might happen.
