Sea phase of Aman 09 continues in Arabian Sea
The third day of the sea phase of multinational Naval exercise ‘Aman 09’ was marked with deep sea exercises on full scale involving 21 ships, special forces, helicopters and fighter aircraft from across the globe.
The complete armada was tested to full operational limits while undertaking all maneuvers and tactics designed to counter the undesirable activities at seas and high oceans.
Every serial was a perfect depiction of harmonious Standing Operating Procedures which had been dwelled upon during the planning and briefing phase.
Many distinguished personalities including Ahmed Mukhtar, the Federal Defence Minister, Qamar uz Zaman Kaira, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Secretary Defence, Secretary Foreign Affairs, Commander 5 Corps and foreign media from various countries were taken to Arabian Sea today to witness the exercises and weapon demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defence Minister said that participation of major navies in the exercise is an indicator of the confidence and trust which the international community reposes in Pakistan and Pakistan Navy.
He complimented Pakistan Navy for holding such a large scale multinational exercise and hoped that it would have far reaching impact.
Ahmed Mukhtar said that the exercise apart from enhancing the interoperability, would also strengthen the existing friendly ties with other countries.
He stated that huge efforts generated by Pakistan Navy in Tsunami relief operations.
The exercises included depth charge firing by Atlantic aircraft, fly past of fighter aircraft, dropping of Special Services Group personnel on a moving ship's deck, deck landing by helicopters, picking up survivors by helicopters, communication procedures and submarine warfare tactics.
