Haqqani brushes aside reports of allied forces crossing over into Pakistan
Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani on Thursday said that there is no threat of Americans troops crossing the Durand line in order to hunt down Taliban militants.
Talking to private TV he said Washington has also denied media reports earlier this week that Nato troops are amassing near Pak-Afghan border to launch attack inside Pakistani territory.
He said talks of hot pursuit are only the opinion of a few individuals which is contrary to the US policy. Nato forces have the mandate to operate only inside Afghanistan therefore they cannot cross over into Pakistan.
He rejected rumours that Pakistan’s government might allow Nato troops to take action against al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden inside Pakistan.
He urged Afghan authorities to act against Taliban militants in their country just like Pakistan is taking action against the militants inside its territory.
