Lawyers observe Black Day

Peshawar High Court Bar Council (PHBC) Thursday observed May 12 as black day and appealed Chief Justice of Supreme Court to take suo motto action against those involved in firing incidents in Karachi on that day.

The lawyers' community boycotted courts to condemn the killing more than 30 people on that day in Karachi in 2007. FM Sabir advocate, Qasim Khattak advocate, Abdul Samad Marwat advocate and Hayat advocate condemned lawlessness on that day and Tuesday explosion in district courts Nowshera and killing of tribal journalist, Nasrullah Khan Afridi in a car blast.

They demanded providing protection to both journalists and lawyers in the province. They also demanded Chief Justice Peshawar High Court to fill the vacant posts of judges in high court.

Talking to media general secretary PHCBA, Amin-ur-Rehman said that they observed May 12, as black day and requested the Chief Justice of Supreme Court to take suo motto notice against those involved in blood shed on the roads and streets of Karachi on that day.
