At least four boys were killed and three injured while playing with an abandoned explosive device that went off in Kohat on Wednesday.

The children were playing near a pond in Jerma village of Kohat with a shell apparently from a mortar.

The injured are rushed to district headquarters hospital where emergency has been declared.

Senior government official Khalid Khan Umarzai says Wednesday's blast appeared to be an accident.
