The National Database & Registration Authority’s Pak ID website would be shut down as part of NADRA’s transition to a mobile app for service delivery on Friday (tomorrow).
“NADRA’s Pak ID website will be shut down and all services will be provided through a mobile app,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement shared by the ministry on Thursday.
The decision comes in response to the challenges faced by citizens, particularly overseas Pakistanis, who struggled with issues related to scanning and uploading fingerprints and required documents on the website.
“Citizens, especially Pakistanis living abroad, faced difficulties in using the website,” he said, “there were issues with scanning and uploading fingerprints and required documents.”
Naqvi added that fraudulent elements were engaged in the business of assisting in the creation of identity documents through fake websites.
To combat such fraudulent activities, the website would cease operations. The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “are taking strict measures against these illicit practices, with NADRA collaborating with other agencies to ensure accountability.”
The improved NADRA mobile app is expected to provide a comprehensive range of services, including national ID cards, NICOP, POC, B Form, and FRC, allowing citizens to manage their identification documents from home.
The new regional offices are set to begin operations on March 31, aiming to facilitate better communication between NADRA officials and the public.
