Former Prime Minister and PMLN chief Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Washington D.C.
He was greeted upon arrival by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Sheikh Saeed and embassy staff.
Sources indicate that Sharif’s trip is primarily for a medical checkup. However, meetings with prominent US figures are also anticipated. In addition to his medical appointments, Mr. Sharif will be paying condolences to Ambassador Saeed’s family following the recent death of his wife and is scheduled to meet with Pakistan Muslim League (N) workers in New York.
Before his departure, Sharif was questioned by a journalist about why he did not become Prime Minister again.
He responded that the question was pertinent, suggesting it would be best answered after his return from the US. When asked about his assessment of the current government’s performance, he stated he would comment upon his return in a few days.
