Customs officials at New Islamabad Airport have seized 16 expensive iPhones from a steward of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) during a routine inspection.
The PIA flight steward arrived at the airport from Canada, traveling on a tourist visa. Upon his arrival, customs authorities conducted a check and discovered the modern smartphones concealed on the employee.
In response to the incident, customs officials have taken the steward into custody for legal action. Despite the steward’s travel being in a private capacity, PIA management has issued a show-cause notice to him.
A PIA spokesperson stated that the airline does not tolerate unauthorized actions by its employees and will not show leniency towards those involved in illegal activities.
