Vawda claims his prediction about Bushra Bibi was accurate

Independent senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that his prediction about incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi was accurate.

In a social media post, he claimed that he had said a day earlier that Bibi would be released.

“No new case has been registered against Bushra Bibi. In a VIP way, a car was allowed to pick her up,” he said and alleged that regular meetings with Khan would start on October 26.

The former first lady was released from Adiala Jail on Thursday, nine months after she was imprisoned alongside him in the runup to elections.

Special Judge (central) Shahrukh Arjumand issued the release orders after Bibi’s lawyers submitted a surety bond worth Rs1 million to the court.

In the days before the February polls, Bibi was convicted of graft and illegal marriage alongside opposition leader Khan in what he claimed was a campaign to sideline him from the vote.

A faith healer who has rarely been seen in public, Bibi wedded Khan shortly before he was elected in 2018 after becoming his spiritual guide.

She was arrested on January 31 – one week before Pakistan went to the polls. The charges against her in the illegal marriage case sparked uproar both among PTI supporters and wider society.

The independent senator claimed that he does not speak things from his own and “would not hide anything from the nation.”

In the recent past, Vawda has been quite common on news talk shows and making claims about the country’s politics.

Vawda’s videos during the Senate session on Monday to pass the 26th Constitutional Amendment also went viral where he made claims about the lawmakers and rulers of the country.
