Mubarak Zeb explains why he voted for constitutional amendment

Mubarak Zeb, the lawmaker who voted in favor of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, has revealed the reasons behind his decision, detailing promises made by the federal government in exchange for his support. In an interview with a private television channel, Zeb stated that his vote was a deliberate choice, driven by several factors.

Zeb expressed deep dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, claiming they treated his slain brother, Rehan Zeb, poorly. He believes his vote for the amendment will bring peace to his brother’s soul.

In exchange for his vote, Zeb said the federal government pledged to release funds for the Bajaur district and promised him an advisory position. Furthermore, he revealed discussions with the government regarding the arrest of his brother’s killers.

Zeb voiced his grievances against the PTI, highlighting that he won his seat as an independent candidate, not on a PTI ticket, and was even excluded from the party’s parliamentary WhatsApp group. He described the PTI’s treatment as neglectful, questioning the future of his district if he received no support from either the PTI or the federal government.

He further criticized the provincial government, claiming it had not provided any funds for his district. He mentioned receiving a dilapidated vehicle from the Excise Police, which was later taken back.

Zeb concluded by asserting his independence from the PTI and any other political party.
