The gas supply in Karachi’s Liaquatabad was disrupted on Sunday after the main pipeline was damaged when labourers dug the road up in the area.
The break in the six-inch gas line has affected the gas supply not only in Liaquatabad but also in surrounding areas, according to residents of the area.
They added that the repair work on a sewage line was ongoing at the time of the incident.
In August, a gas pipeline leak caused reduced gas pressure in several areas of Sindh and Balochistan. It was detected in the Gambat GPF IV feeder line, which supplies gas to SSGC.
Due to this leak, the gas supply system experienced a shortfall of 38 million cubic feet per day.
Gas supply plays a crucial role in meeting the energy needs of households and businesses alike. It serves as a primary source of fuel for cooking, heating, and powering various appliances, contributing significantly to daily life and economic activities.
