A strong earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook parts of northern Pakistan, causing panic and prompting residents to rush out of their homes.
The tremors were strongly felt in Dir and its surrounding areas, with weaker tremors reported in Chitral and Swat.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Islamabad, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan. The PDMA reported a depth of 187 kilometers.
