Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has announced emergency grants for charities helping children in Gaza as Israel continues its strikes in the region.
“I stand with millions of people around the world demanding an immediate and lasting ceasefire. And today, I am directing another $300,000 in emergency funding from Malalafund to three charities helping Palestinian children: KinderUSA, INARA, and RAWA Fund,” she said in an Instagram post.
She expressed “deep concern” for the Palestinian children in Gaza, who have endured “relentless bombings and suffered immense trauma” over the past year. She highlighted the destruction of their homes and schools, as well as the loss of friends and family.
Malala added that her recent funding will aid humanitarian and social justice organizations engaged in vital work in Gaza. The contributions will help: provide food, clean water, and medical care to children; assist parents with essential services to support their families; offer psychosocial and educational support to traumatized children; and construct tents for displaced families.
This latest $300,000 funding builds upon the initial $300,000 in emergency grants she announced in October 2023, which supported similar initiatives by organizations including ANERA, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and UNRWA.
