Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has indicated plans for a long march towards Islamabad and a nationwide wheel jam strike. He announced that protests will take place on September 29 at key highways across the country.
During an online emergency meeting attended by central and provincial leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem stated that a public referendum will be held from October 23 to 27. Following this, options for a wheel jam strike and a long march to Islamabad are under consideration.
Hafiz Naeem criticized the government for failing to implement the Rawalpindi Agreement, alleging that officials have misrepresented the situation to both the media and the public.
He noted that the ruling party has only taken a few cosmetic measures in the past 45 days.
He urged the government to end its luxuries and privileges and provide immediate relief to the public regarding electricity bills. He called for the implementation of a uniform tariff based on the actual cost of electricity production across the country.
