A camel named Kemy, who had her leg severed in a brutal attack in Sindh, Pakistan, has taken a remarkable step towards recovery.
For the first time since the incident, Kemy has managed to stand on her three remaining legs, bringing hope to those who have been working tirelessly for her rehabilitation.
Kemy was attacked on June 13th in the Sanghar district of Sindh, where unknown individuals hacked off her leg with an axe. CDRS Benji Project for Animal Welfare, a non-profit organization founded by social activist Sarah Jehanagir, rescued the eight-month-old camel and brought her to a shelter home in Karachi, where plans are underway to fit her with a prosthetic leg.
However, the shelter’s administration reported that Kemy has been independently standing on her three legs in the absence of humans, a development that has brought both surprise and relief.

The administration further stated that Kemy’s injured leg is being treated with daily medication and bandages, and her overall health is improving.
