Despite a tight budget, bureaucrats in Punjab have been granted approval for luxurious homes, adding to the already existing perks of luxury vehicles.
The decision, which has been met with public outcry, involves the construction of 27 luxurious homes at a cost exceeding Rs1.64 billion.
Plans are in place to increase the number of homes to 29, potentially pushing the total cost beyond Rs2 billion.
The luxurious residences, which will be built in DHA Phase 9, will be constructed by the Infrastructure Development Authority of Punjab.
The homes will feature double-story structures, as well as water tanks and offices.
The project has a deadline of one year and nine months for completion. The IDAP has been instructed to obtain approval for any necessary amendments to the plan.
The news comes on the heels of the government providing luxury vehicles to senior officials, further fueling public discontent.
