A tragic series of drownings has occurred across Pakistan during the Eid holidays, claiming the lives of seven people. Rescue teams faced difficulties in retrieving the bodies, with one still missing.
Despite the implementation of Section 144 in Kohat, which prohibits swimming in certain areas, three children drowned in two separate incidents. Two young boys drowned in the Kohat Tanda Lake, while another child lost his life in the Badu Ziyarat river.
All three bodies were recovered and transported to the Kohat District Headquarters Hospital.
In Shujabad, 15-year-old Muhammad Farooq drowned while swimming with friends in the Raja Ram Tubewell. He was transported to the Civil Hospital in critical condition but could not be saved.
In Sialkot, 30-year-old Zafar drowned in the MR Canal near Motrha. The deceased was from Zafarwal.
In Raiwind, 18-year-old Usman, a resident of Lakki Marwat, drowned in a canal. Despite a 24-hour search, his body has not yet been found. Rescue teams continue to search for him.
In Depalpur, 17-year-old Hasibullah, a resident of Phulrawan Wazir, drowned while swimming in a canal near Phulrawan Wazir. He was recovered by a rescue team and transported to the hospital, but could not be saved.
Authorities are urging people to be cautious and to avoid swimming in canals, rivers, and other bodies of water without proper safety precautions.
