Pakistan sees significant increase in donkey population

Like the previous year, Pakistan has seen a substantial increase in the donkey population which jumped to 5.9 million during the fiscal year 2023-24.

According to the Economic Survey, the donkey population has grown by 100,000.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the survey at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, a day before the annual budget.

In the previous fiscal year, the donkey population stood at 5.8 million while in the year 2021-22, it was recorded as 5.7 million. Over the past two years, the donkey population has seen an increase of 200,000.

The report also provided data on the population of other livestock. The cattle population in the country has increased to 57.5 million, buffalo to 46.3 million, sheep to 32.7 million, and goats to 87 million.
